The composite is then placed onto the tooth, sculpted to the desired shape and appearance, hardened, and polished for a strong, attractive finish. Bonding is a simple procedure and patients do not need anesthesia or dental sedation beforehand.
Tooth contouring is also a minor cosmetic procedure, but unlike bonding, the process involves sculpting the tooth’s outer enamel to reduce its size, or smooth or shape its surface. Using special, minimally-invasive equipment and techniques, McKinney dentist, Dr. Chen can contour one or more teeth to create a brand new smile while minimizing the amount of alterations to your tooth structure. Local anesthesia can reduce the risks of discomfort, and though patients typically do not need sedation, you may opt for it if you are particularly nervous or anxious about dental treatment.
